Nayia (Naja) was writing her own songs since she was a child,singing them to her friends and classmates and every other victim availiable.Her love for music and especially metal always had her trying to create a metal band.By the age of 13 Nayia starts a metal band under the name "Dark Souls" (Nayia named the band),in which she was just singing,as she wasn't playing any instuments by then.She started creating complete tracks,lyrics and melodies for the band.The band lasted a few years and during this time there were some labels that were interested about the Nayia's music,but no contract was ever been signed(from the ages of 13 to the age of 19).Due to mental and physical health issues created by the violent and abusive environment Nayia was raised in,she gives up music for years,just writing a few songs every now and then just for her self.At the same time due to being raised in the Balcans (Greece), rasism and bullying in her teenage years didn't help and Nayia ends up losing her voice almost completely twice,depressed, anorexic (38 kilos by the age of 18) and alcoholic (by the age of 14,yes 14 years old). But all this tragedy takes a good turn as Nayia desides to grab her things and disappear, gives up alcohol, lives for a while in the streets, lying that she is searching for a house, because she studies at university in order to be hired at jobs and doing every job availiable at the time.She makes one fourth of the money needed to rent a house,she convienced an old lady by telling her that her family would send her the rest of the money within the next days and gets the house.Nayia worked at the most random places from cafes,restaurants as a waitress to stages with magicians,as their asistant (that one person the magician cuts in half). Her main job at the age of 18 was working with children,a kind of children care at an indoor playground cafe.She has also been an alternative and artistic nude model for 8 years as a way of income and an artistic way of expressing herself due to her voice being in a terrible condition.As an artist who creates everything by her self,she used to draw and paint and had won a price in a few competitions while at school(age of 13).And year after year,peace and quiet existed,but not much changed.And then...Covid.
During the Covid 19 quarantine,Nayia decides to built her own home studio piece by piece.After receiving faulse information by people who considered themselves "the best" on Mixing and Mastering Nayia starts composing a few songs (also with a little knowledge of keyboards now and a more stable voice), but failing completely in mixing and mastering. Disapointed she gives up. That same period of time she gets sick and starts losing her voice again and stayed sick for one and a half year not having energy to walk,feeling like an old person not knowing what is happening to her. After a trip to her home country, Sweden she feels really sick, she visits a doctor and due to a wrong diagnosis (that she is fine and just needs sleep) ends up to the emergency room ang gets hospitalised for a few days. The correct diagnosis was "abscess in the tonsils" and she was lucky enough that they took her to the ER on time. A couple of months later she gets the infected tonsils removed, the infection which lived weel in her body since the age of five slowly disappears and her voice is magically back. All those years she never stopped practising (15 years of practice) and suddenly after the surgery her voice is back and in great condition. Nayia also leart growling (metal screaming) during the long Covid period and decides to try to finish that album she once started.
As an artist loving extreme arts and as one of her childhood dreams was to work at a circus (which partly did by working with magicians in the age of 18-19) she starts pole,aerial arts and Shibari.
Whith her big love for metal and weird stuff she decides to combine Shibari with Singing.
Today.Nayia has already releashed three singles,two experimental songs (one of them is psychedelic nordic folk) and one black metal mixed with progressive and folk Turkish/Egypsian Arabic goblet drum (Darabuka) ,called "Porcelain" on November 2023.A combination that no one else has ever done before.Nayia plays all the physical instruments in her recordings (guitar,darabuka-piano,bass and rest of the drums are writen using sounds on the computer program).Nayia does all the Mixing,the Mastering,the singing,the recording of everything and all of the songs are original ones of her.Nayia creates the music videos with all her original ideas,all by her self and she became a solo artist,one woman band,one woman music label,doin all the jobs needed by her self.
Nayia presented her two experimental songs "PSALMS" and "Vikings Häxan" for the first time on November 4,2023 at Red Jasper Theater, Athens along with a show that contained ropes(shibari self suspention),fire tricks and her being tied up hanging upside down from the ceiling and singing.Nayia has also created diy masks for her videos and her events.
Nayia K.Rose 's full album will be released by the begining of the new year.Long story sort,with no much sad details.A happy,after all,acrobat and healthy singer and music creator is being born again.Stay happy,stay healthy,stay safe,never give up.
